Rod Hatter Memorial Yealering 300 2007 |
|
Report by Clerk of Course
The 2007 Rod Hatter Memorial Yealering
300 was run with a great group of 30 competitors - better people do
not exist.
All officials who are unpaid helpers did a wonderful job and considering most were standing out in the sun all weekend - you people are the best.
The weather was generally hot and dusty.
Fortunately, the breeze most of both days made the temperature
bearable.
One accident occurred when Trevor
Spencer / Jane Spencer in car 870had a light roll. Fortunately there
were no crew injuries but the roll cage did its work and is now
scrap. Trevor has some work to do in 4 weeks.
The fight for outright position went
into the last race with only 30 seconds between Darren Agrela /
Stewart Allen and Brad Cooper / Mick Rodoni. The luck of
racing intervened and Darren had a flat. Rather than do expensive
damage he parked the car. It is a pity that someone so
talented cannot get some help ( good sponsorship) and be able to
show his talent to the max.
The race was won by Brad Cooper /
Michael Rodoni from Dave Percival / Jarred Percival with Brett
Renton /Kevin Renton coming 3rd in the ex Brian Robinson car. First
tin top and fourth outright was car 434 - Dale Hands / Brett Young
in the Nissan Navara Ute.
I must thank the sponsors of the event,
Hankook Tyres and Lindy Hatter, for their very generous financial
assistance. Without this the event would been difficult to
finance for such a small club.
When you are looking for tyres please
consider the excellent product that Hankook produce.
This was my last event as a Clerk of
Course as the new unfortunately necessary rules we have to run these
events have turned the administration of the event into a chore. I
got into doing the work as a pay back for many years on competing
and the sport needed officials. However it is not fun any more.
To all competitors over the last 12
years or so I thank you for your patience and help when asked.
To all officials both on the event and
on all the previous events I have run, I offer a huge thanks from me
and the Nissan Car Club.
In my speech at the presentation after
the event my order of thanks was first the officials because without
you we do not have an event. This is fact.
We will still be involved in the sport
doing the SOS / Recovery System I have evolved over the last couple
of years and will be at the national event doing this.
Thanks again to everybody.
